OK, so this part is really in the hands of your pest exterminator, but I thought I would give you a little information on the potential pest control solutions that your technician might choose.
Like I mentioned earlier, fumigation methods are losing ground as the main way to treat a pest problem. (At least according to my EnviroTech technician). Fumigation is a project that involves a structure be covered or sealed airtight followed by the introduction of a gas at a killing concentration a long period of time (24-72hrs.). Although expensive, space fumigation targets all life stages of pests, so depending on the severity of your problem, this may be a viable option.
Traps are typically set for larger pests like mice and rats. Thank god this wasn't our issue. The snap trap is the most widely used, it utilizes a trigger (sometimes shaped like cheese) to hold bait, and kills the rodent by striking it behind the head with a wire rod or jaw. In some instances you may wish to use glue traps also called glue boards - these are typically for bug pests rather than rodents.
Last is space treatment, which is the process that we used. Liquid insecticide is dispersed in the atmosphere within a structure. Treatments do not require the evacuation or airtight sealing of a building, which allows you to be able to use most of your space without the cost of the fumigation.
Usually, this is up to your pest control expert, but you may be able to choose which option is best for you . I say just do what you're told.
